The independence of Timor-Leste was achieved through a prolonged conflict, resulting in significant hardships for the Timorese population. Many Timorese endured suffering, loss of property, and the heartbreaking separation from their beloved families. They found themselves living in an environment marked by injustice, exploitation, discrimination, and various other adversities that the Timorese people, including those in Viqueque municipality, had to confront.
In this new phase, the developmental stage necessitates the collective effort of all Timorese citizens, starting from this point forward, to eradicate poverty in Timor-Leste. Envisioning a future where Timor-Leste stands on par with other nations, the aspiration is for its residents to lead lives of peace, social justice, and serenity, supported by robust economic growth and sustainability.
Timor-Leste, a nation that achieved independence on May 20th, 2002, is endowed with substantial petroleum resources such as oil and gas, along with promising arable land suitable for the agricultural sector. However, the limited human resources pose a challenge to the comprehensive development of these abundant natural resources within Timor-Leste. The topics typically discussed, which serve as foundational inspirations for organizations, primarily revolve around strategies to stabilize and actively contribute to the ongoing development processes. This focus is particularly directed towards the Viqueque municipality, emphasizing communitarian development due to its direct impact on the lives of the local communities.
